Kootenay Hockey Academy (KHA) is excited to announce the hiring of Jackson Bohan as the new Head Coach of our 17U program.
A Cranbrook native, Bohan returns home with a wealth of playing experience and a deep passion for hockey. As a former defenseman, he spent three seasons in the SJHL and AJHL with the Humboldt Broncos, Melville Millionaires, and Whitecourt Wolverines. His playing career continued overseas and in the U.S., with professional stints in Sweden and most recently with the Blue Ridge Bobcats of the FPHL.
“I’m beyond excited to get started as head coach,” said Bohan. “This is a great opportunity to build something special and push our players to the next level.”
Over the past year, Bohan has also worked with Advocate Athlete, gaining insight into player development and management — experience that adds another layer of value to his coaching approach.
“We’re thrilled to bring Jackson on board,” said KHA General Manager Kelvin Cech. “His professional background, local roots, and drive to grow as a leader make him a great fit for our academy and our athletes. I'll be working closely with Jackson and the 17U's, and it was important to get the right person to coach this team for the first time.”
Bohan’s combination of firsthand playing experience, evolving coaching perspective, and familiarity with Cranbrook’s hockey community positions him to lead our 17U athletes with energy, structure, and care.
Welcome to the bench, Jackson — we can’t wait to get started.
